Two Suspects Charged with Capital Murder of Shermain Cain in Deadly Uniontown Shooting

Uniontown, Alabama – Authorities have arrested two individuals in connection with the October 12, 2025, homicide that claimed the life of 21-year-old Shermain Cain outside a Dollar General and Jones Lounge parking lot in Uniontown.

According to the Uniontown Police Department, the arrests were made following a joint investigation with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) and the Perry County District Attorney’s Office. Officers responded to the scene Sunday evening, where Cain was discovered unresponsive inside his vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound.

Following swift investigative efforts, police identified and charged 18-year-old Jayelynn Cole and 19-year-old Martrell Carlisle with Capital Murder in connection with the fatal shooting. Both suspects are being held without bond at the Madison County Jail, pending formal arraignment.

Authorities have not yet released a motive behind the deadly incident, but the arrests mark a significant development in what has been a deeply troubling case for the Uniontown community.

Officials expressed gratitude to residents who cooperated during the investigation and reaffirmed their commitment to seeking justice for the victim and his family.
